**Life-threatening emergencies are not treated in our clinic. Dr. Scott E. Balogh, MD ADAM, ABPN, FACAAM

Dr. Scott E. Balogh is board-certified in psychiatry with nearly 40 years of experience. He received his doctorate from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Dr. Balogh has extensive expertise in treating anxiety disorders, and bipolar disorder, among other conditions. 

Helen G. Ulmer, PMHCNS-BC

Helen G. Ulmer is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Clinical Nurse Specialist with Psychiatry Specialists of South Carolina. Helen received her Master of Science degree in Psychiatric Mental Health from the Medical University of South Carolina and brings in more than 20 years of experience in mental health. Her strengths include accurately diagnosing, medication management, and supportive psychotherapy.

Helen enjoys meeting with her patients and addressing the barriers to mental wellness. She is dedicated to diagnosing and finding the best treatment personally suited for you. 

Dr. Erin Burkill, Ph.D

Erin Burkill, Ph.D. is a Clinical Neuropsychologist and Psychologist with Psychiatry Specialists of South Carolina.  Dr. Burkill earned her Ph.D. in Psychology from West Virginia University and then went on to complete a two-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in Clinical Neuropsychology at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.

As a certified, fellowship trained Neuropsychologist, Dr. Burkill provides expert Neuropsychological Testing to patients across South Carolina. To schedule a neuropsychological evaluation, please contact our office or submit an email request.

Cary Johnstone, LPC-A 

Cary Johnstone, MS, NCC, LPCA is a national certified counselor and licensed professional counselor associate who holds a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health and Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. She graduated from the University of South Carolina with a B.A. in Psychology and a double minor in Counseling Education and Dance Performance. Cary has experience working with adults across the lifespan experiencing anxiety, depression, PTSD, LGBTQ+ issues, life transitions, chronic pain and injury. Additionally, she is passionate about supporting the mental health and wellbeing of elite athletes, and completed her master’s paper on supporting NCAA athletes’ mental health following injury.  Originally from Clemson, South Carolina, Cary enjoys watching college football games, spending time with friends and family, and spending time at the beach in her free time.

LaStacia Duffy, LPC-A

Master of Arts degree in Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage, Family, and Children at Webster in May 2016. I completed both my learning practicum and internships at Marie Carter and Associates in Mount Pleasant, SC in 2015 and 2016.  LaStacia utilizes an eclectic approach to help navigate life’s complexities, emotions, and issues.  As a breast cancer survivor, she strives to use her personal experience to support those facing life’s challenges.  She has experience working with adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, grief, PTSD and relationship issues.

Claudia Hafer, LPC

Claudia Hafer LPC, LAC, AADC  Master of Arts: Clinical Counseling from the Citadel. Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over 20 years of experience partnering with clients to work through Anxiety, Mood Disorders, Trauma, Work Life Stress, Relationship difficulties and Substance Use issues. Claudia’s strives to hear her patients’ concerns, be a safe place to open up, highlight their strengths and walk with them as they learn to cope and overcome barriers to living the life they wish to live.   Claudia focuses on taking interventions from different approaches such as CBT, DBT, and Acceptance therapies.  She also was recently EMDR Trained and is working on her EMDR Certification to further help patient experiencing the impact of trauma.   Claudia has experience working with Trauma, Depression, Anxiety, Bi-Polar Disorder, and transitions of life.
